Fire officials have ordered evacuations for the southern portion of Lokahi Makai Apartments because of a brush fire on Hulikoa Drive in Kailua-Kona.
Fire crews are now attacking the fast-moving fire, which was reportedly heading mauka and north toward Lokahi Makai Apartments. No structures are threatened at this time, authorities reported.
Hulikoa Drive is currently closed. An evacuation center is open at the West Hawaii Civic Center, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.
